SJCHCC to Host 16th Annual Student and College Financial Aid Awareness Workshop


The San Joaquin County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SJCHCC) has announced the date for its 16th annual Student and College Financial Aid Awareness Workshop. The event will take place on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Alex G. Spanos Center located at 1178 Larry Heller Drive on the University of the Pacific campus in Stockton. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The workshop will offer high school students, athletes, transfer students and their parents free step-by-step assistance in completing the complex Free Federal Student Assistance Application (FAFSA) form. The FAFSA is opening the doors to access to free money for college through Cal Grants as well as other forms of financial assistance to pay for tuition.

“The SJCHCC has been pursuing this important program for 16 years now and it continues to grow because our Latin American community recognizes the value of a higher level of education as a means of accessing opportunities and the development of wealth,” said said Jesύs Andrade, CEO of SJCHCC. “This event is a great opportunity for parents and students to plan their education together. The forum also offers workshops for grades 6-11 and all high school students and their parents so they can start planning for their future early.
